5 DIY Pressure Washing Jobs That You Could Do, But Should Leave To The Pros

5 diy jobs to leave to pros

Pressure washing is a valuable tool for the savvy homeowner and the bread and butter of companies like ours! But not just everyone can or should use these tools.

Here are a few reasons why not every DIY job is doable.

Here Are the Jobs You Shouldn't Do Yourself

The following is a list of jobs that could go wrong if put in inexperienced hands. As a general rule, your first DIY project should involve as few power tools and as much professional advice as possible.

Window washing needs to be done softly. While stains and dirt may be more tempting to remove from your windows yourself, we advise calling a professional. It's better to pay a professional than buy a new window.

Roof washing is dangerous for two reasons: height and pressure. A professional washer knows what PSI to leave the wand at for cleaning fragile material like roofing shingles. Too much pressure on a ladder or wet incline can send you to the ground quickly.

Pressure washing homes with brick faces with mortar will appear to resist the stream of highly pressurized water perfectly, making this a dangerous job to give to amateurs. In reality, high pressure on a brick surface will create unseen cracks that will crumble the brick and mortar from within.

Auto washing feels like it would be a high-pressure job, but you wouldn't hand the job to just anyone. A wand held at the wrong distance or a dial turned up too high can strip the paint from your car.

Finally, the last danger is the last part of the work. Disassembling the pressure washer incorrectly can cause a watery explosion that may harm the worker. Renting the tools isn't a replacement for experience.
